  • Overview

    Drive the development and execution of HT&P training and certification programs, ensuring that policies, programs, procedures, documentation, systems, metrics and resources are meeting and exceeding industry regulations and standards. Manage and coordinate the activities of the HT&P training department by providing leadership to achieve training excellence.


    • Addresses technical personnel development needs and external customer training through department leadership, and directs the training department’s strategic direction and tactical execution.
    • Responsible for all aspects of planning, leading, organizing, and revenue generation for the training department including the development and delivery of customer and employee technical learning programs, technical manual creation, and online resources.
    • Responsible for structure and framework of development plans, and certification programs to meet and/or exceed customer expectations and industry standards and regulations, ensuring proper training, curriculum, testing, documentation, and record keeping.
    • Oversees and continuously improves the TDW Technician Advancement Program and Mechanic Advancement Program to ensure that the resources are in place to properly train, mentor, develop and retain our Technician and Mechanic population. Ensures that the programs are technically sound and Technicians and Mechanics are scheduled for certification and evaluated in a timely manner.
    • As part of the program(s), implements an orientation initiative for new Technicians, incorporating timely training and mentoring suitable for effective development and deployment of personnel.
    • Oversees all aspects of technical training classes including scheduling, trainer assignment, material and location preparation, course syllabus, communication, logistics, and billing.
    • Oversees the utilization, scheduling, setup, staffing, and inventory of our training centers.
    • Benchmarks other internal and external training programs, products, pricing, and methodologies to ensure TDW remains a leader in technical training and learning programs.
    • Manages the training department staff including maintaining proper staffing levels, planning and coordinating work, training and motivating employees, evaluating performance, and coaching as needed.
    • Conducts performance reviews in accordance with the performance management program, providing fair and accurate assessment of employee performance, training needs, areas for improvement, and possibility of future growth within the organization.
    • Develops cross-training programs and opportunities throughout the service divisions
    • Researches and directs the updating of existing training with new technologies including e-learning, video, VR and new presentation techniques setting the industry standard for training programs.
    • Conducts audits of current TDW Technician, Mechanics, and technical personnel to ensure they meet the technical requirements and qualifications for their current position designations.

    • Shares training best practices across all TDW business units.
    • Collaborates with operational leadership to understand and meet onboarding, training, and retainage goals for qualified and certified personnel.
    • Ensures high quality standards are established and maintained; recommend continuous improvement ideas and work with management on developing implementation plans; take personal responsibility for service excellence, sustainability and safe working practices; and, understand and ensure compliance with our Principles & Values and all company policies and procedures.
    • Works closely with the Quality Director to ensure the highest standard of technical excellence in all aspects of the training function and that training curriculum meets all TDW and industry codes, standards, and regulations.
    • Works closely with the HSE Director to ensure maximum compliance to all governmental and Corporate health, safety, & environmental procedures within HT&P Services operations globally.
    • Provides reports to Operations Management and makes recommendations to facilitate sound and effective executive and managerial decision-making.
    • Maintains professional, academic, and industry contacts and improves technical knowledge of department members through on-the-job application of customer-specific engineered solutions, participation in professional and industry trade organizations, review of technical papers/literature, and attendance at appropriate seminars and workshops with the intent of applying innovative and customized engineering solutions to both existing and new products.
    • Manages communication with local Operations, Project Management, Sales, and Commercial teams to provide technical training to internal and external customers.


    • Bachelor's degree in Education or Instructional Design, Business, Engineering, or a related field is required. Master's degree or post-graduate course work is a plus.
    • Minimum of five (5) years progressive experience in organizational management, program development, and/or technical training
    • Experience with Instructional Design. Certification in instructional design a plus.
    • Implementation experience as a lead, supervisor/manager in a training and/or technical environment in both presenting and developing, must understand and use good instructional curriculum design.
    • Experience with content management and implementation of Learning Management Systems.
    • Experience with augmented and/or virtual reality training development.
    • Possess strong leadership, customer focused, well developed interpersonal skills, effective decision making, and the ability to communicate effectively in written and oral communication, including excellent training, facilitation and internal/external consulting skills.
    • Strong project management skills and proven track record of meeting deadlines on time and on budget. Ability to prioritize competing priorities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with minimal oversight.
    • Possesses a strong technical background with emphasis on mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic technologies.
    • Requires the ability to operate various computer software programs and applications including Microsoft Office products with advanced Visio and PowerPoint, eLearning software and authoring tools.
    • Experience implementing and using collaborative tools including video editing/authoring.
    • Ability to travel (domestically/internationally).
