  • Overview

    Under the supervision of Welding Services Manager and Quality Control Inspector, performs day-to-day in-service field welding activities. Procedure qualification records, welding mock-ups and production welds, pressure testing and other aspects as required of Welding Services Projects.

    Responsibilities

    In-Service Field Welding (80%)

    • Performs in-service field welding of a wide range of fittings as required in a variety of facility and pipeline environments, to facilitate the repair of customer pressurized piping systems.
    • Ability to fit with accuracy and precision all sizes and type of hot tap fittings
    • Ability to setup and support pressure testing activities
    • Bolt torqueing as required
    • Rigging and lifting as required
    • Ability to work and communicate professionally directly with TDW personnel, customers inspectors, and other contractors
    • Safe operation and maintenance of welding truck rig and welding equipment

    Shop Maintenance Welding / Support (20%)

    • Ability to perform shop welding fabrication and maintenance
    • Fabricate piping and components from engineering drawings
    • Assists HT&P group with maintained and repair
    • Actively maintains clear and safe shop environment

    Qualifications

    • 2+ years of industry experience combined with 5 years of experience in a similar job,
    • Alberta B-Pressure Ticket required.
    • SMAW F4 root without backing qualification
    • Must be able to read & interpret engineering drawings, standards and specifications.
    • Good understanding of personal computers, with the ability to utilize Microsoft Word and Excel software.
    • Familiar with shop and field tolerance limits.
    • Plant/Facility experience an asset
    • Pipeline experience an asset.
    • In-service welding and/or hot tapping experience an asset.
    • ASME B31.3, CSA Z662 code knowledge would be an asset
    • Skill in GMAW, FCAW, GTAW would be an asset
    • Team spirit, ability to work autonomously and with sense of urgency,
    • Good communication & organization skills,
    • Willing to travel frequently
