  • Overview

    Evaluate, verify, and recommend manufacturing methods and technologies to improve safety, quality, cost, and throughput. Serve as a manufacturing subject matter expert in product development activities.

    Responsibilities

    Product Development Support (70%)

    • Design and Analysis: Work across disciplines to analyze product designs for manufacturing best practices, uses Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methods, and can lead other manufacturing engineers and technicians through product development.
    • Concept: Introduction of advanced manufacturing methodologies, methods not currently core to TDW.
    • Problem Solving: leads in providing DFSS, DFM/A, pFMEA, and Control Plan inputs in product development efforts,
    • Projects: Leads as a technical subject matter expert (SME) in “make/buy” efforts and supplier setup
    • Projects: Leads as a Mfg SME in new manufacturing technology studies regarding safety, quality, cost, and productivity improvements,
    • Problem Solving: defines, verifies, and implements manufacturing controls in new product developments (i.e., critical to quality measurements and metrology)
    • Communicates across disciplines impact and responsibilities for new mfg processes
    • Verifies and validates improvement efforts, ensuring results are realized,

    Production Efficiency Improvements (20%)

    • Concept Development: Analyzes and recommends improvements to current manufacturing processes: safety, quality, cost, productivity,
    • Concept Development: Assists with cost estimates
    • Design and Analysis: Participates in measurement and monitoring methods in alignment with ISO9001 and other improvement initiatives;

    HSE / Quality (10%)

    • Participates in and supports HSE projects and procedures, including Behavior Observations, Training, Ergonomics, and Investigations.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (or related) required,
    • 8+ years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer,
    • Proficiency with manufacturing processes and processes improvement methods (e.g., DFSS, PDCA, DMAIC, 6 Sigma, Lean, 5S, etc.),
    • Six Sigma Green Belt and/or CMfgE preferred
    • Experience and proficiency with engineering software (e.g., SolidWorks, Altium, etc.),
    • Understanding of GD&T and inspection methods,
    • Strong business orientation,
    • Ability to work closely and communicate with all levels of the organization,
    • Intermediate MS Word, Excel, and Outlook skills; familiarity with MS Access
