  • Overview

    As Project Engineer responsibilities on ensuring proper procedures and processes are in place to have projects Engineered from start to completion/closeout. This will include leading the development of HT&P/Welding turn-over packages within CAR, procedures, QA/QC documentation to ensure we meet/exceed internal and external expectations.

    Responsibilities

    Operations support (40%)

    • Communicate with PM and QC team to ensure technical requirements are being met
    • Evaluate, optimize, and improve project management and engineering processes as necessary.
    • Ensures planning, execution and management of assigned ancillary projects,
    • Develops costing and estimates for in-service and customer projects through work scope definition, gathering internal and contractor pricing information,
    • Preparing proposals, coordinating with various departments prior to and including submission, customer presentations, project development, implementation, execution, monitoring costs, change orders and material procurement so as to ensure timely and within-budget completion,
    • Submits timely project updates, progress reports and cost trends,

    Technical support (60%)

    • Review all aspects of project and specify technical requirements for Welding and HT&P processes.
    • Communicate with CSG groups and other TDW technical authorities to ensure requirements are met when nature of the project deems necessary
    • Review customer specifications, communicate requirements to quoting team and incorporate into project plan
    • Develop relationships and facilitate meetings with jurisdictional authorities ensuring processes and requirements are understood. Educate and influence authorities to streamline requirements where possible, and develop procedures and processes to ensure requirements are met.
    • Support Account managers with technical requirements
    • Support QA Manager with the creation of Level 3 documentation and general upkeep of our Canadian QCMS system.
    • Provides technical assistance to Commercial department and subcontract sources, when called upon, providing acceptable solutions within the scope of product/project requirements, such as cost, codes, and specifications
    • Develops welding procedures, specifications , weld plans, WPS/PQR for in-service welding activities,
    • Prepare jurisdictional approval packages.
    • Assists engineering and solutions management departments with projects as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Engineering and ability to perform engineering analysis and calculations; professional registration and in-service welding experience is desirable. Engineer in training is acceptable
    • At least 2-3 years of experience in project engineering, project management, welding procedure development and QA/QC related functions; must have experience with oil and gas pipelines and facilities; additional structural welding knowledge and experience is an asset.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
    • Good oral and written communication skills; must be fluent in English and be able to effectively communicate within your region.
    • Strong leadership qualities, good team player, well organized and ability to work under pressure.
    • Computer literate particularly with Microsoft Office.
