  • Overview

    Supervises the ETO (Engineering To Order) team to provide engineering support to Eastern Hemisphere and to apply sound engineering principles to the modification of existing products and manufacturing processes. Has responsibility for the technical suitability of assigned products and processes.

    Responsibilities

    Operational Excellence (40%)

     

    • Supervises the engineering activities and designs of the ETO team in a manner that achieves established company objectives, is consistent with customer specifications, standard TDW engineering practices, in compliance with applicable codes and optimizes value to the stakeholders.
    • Provides technical support to Sales, Manufacturing and ComOps in regard to product and service applications and complaint handling. Provides engineering leadership expertise to resolve Non Conformity Reports, Engineering Change Notices, reduce scrap and reduce rework.

     

    Project Management (20%)

     

    • Participates in the preparation an annual operating budget and operates within approved guidelines to help ensure that the department meets budget objectives.

    • Supplies engineering drawings sufficient in detail and clarity to allow product to be manufactured according to specifications and in a cost effective manner. Responsible for changes to engineering drawings associated with assigned products and processes.

      

    Technical Expertise and Support (30%)

     

    • Drafts engineering releases and bulletins for existing products after all engineering functions are complete on a project and submits for approval. Provides Marketing Communication Group with the rough draft edits for operating manuals and reviews final drafts to ensure all the vital information is accurate and properly stated.
    • Evaluates and recommends engineering practices and standards, including code requirements, value analysis, and development of appropriate analysis and test protocols, in support of existing products and services. Participates in periodic corporate-wide technical conference to facilitate consistency of engineering practices and coordination. Leads continuous improvement efforts within the department.
    • Maintains professional/academic/industry contacts and improves technical knowledge by participating in professional organizations, reviewing technical papers/literature and attending appropriate meetings and seminars and workshops with the intent of applying the latest technology to existing products and manufacturing processes.

     

    Team Management (10%)

     

    • Evaluates, motivates and develops employees to ensure a qualified workforce necessary to meet company objectives. Conducts performance reviews according to schedule, providing fair and accurate assessment of employee performance, training needs, areas for improvement and possibility of future growth within the organization.
    • Actively supports the Corporate HSE initiative by holding HSE meetings in accordance with Corporate HSE Plan. Develops safe work environment and promotes the use of personal protective equipment and safe work habits for employees. Participates in emergency drills, training, inspections, and incident investigations. Reports incidents and initiates corrective action when necessary. Ensures housekeeping standards are adequate to ensure a safe work environment.

    Qualifications

    • Master degree in mechanical engineering.
    • Seven years engineering experience, experience supervising engineers desired.
    • Knowledge of applicable codes;
    • CAD w/3-D modeling experience. Computer literate with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook at the Intermediate level.
