  • Overview

    As a member of the team, support the design, modeling, and drafting tasks associated with the completion of the project.  Capable of using or learning SolidWorks or NX to model products in 3D and develop drawings. Liaison with manufacturing to evaluate existing product designs. Make routine engineering layouts and make and/or checks manufacturing drawings and bills of material required to manufacture TDW products.


    • Works from sketches or verbal instructions to prepare neat, clear, accurate and complete models and dimensional drawings and layouts, for new products and/or improvements for existing products.
    • Follow company guidelines for model creation and drawing creation and dimensioning. Prepares setup drawings showing essential dimensions and part numbers for marketing and field personnel.
    • Capable of reviewing 2D legacy drawings of our product line and evaluating the assembly and component level drawings for redundancies and commonalities.
    • Search multiple databases for component designs and model the components in 3D CAD.
    • Capable of performing some light calculations including conversion of Units.
    • Liaison between manufacturing and engineering to discover and reduce the commonality within our product line.


    • High school diploma plus associates degree in field related to mechanical drafting, design, or engineering, or equivalent experience.
    • CAD experience or training.
    • Minimum of five years drafting experience in fields related to mechanical/machine drafting.
    • Good understanding of materials and manufacturing processes plus a good mechanical and mathematical aptitude.
    • Experience with Lean Manufacturing is a plus.
    • Experience in 3D modeling of components, modeling of assemblies and Bill of Material creation, knowledge of 3D Product Manufacturing Information (PMI) is a plus.
    • Experience in NX is preferred.
    • Experience in Solidworks is desirable.
    • Familiar with the use of a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software; familiarity with TeamCenter is a plus.
    • Experience in engineering design of a pressurized component and a piping system in use of ASME code i.e. ASME B31.3, B31.4, ASME B31.8 is a plus.
    • Familiar with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5 and/or ISO 1101.
    • Familiar with ISO 2768-1 and 2768-2 tolerancing is a plus. (examples of GD&T)
    • Familiar with modeling and drawing dimensioning in imperial and metric units.
    • Self-motivated and self-starter is required.  Able to perform and complete duties with limited supervision.
