Transform engineering designs into an NC Program to enable parts to be machined safely and meet or exceed print specifications.
Develops tool layouts, programs, and dimension drawings related to numerically controlled equipment, that will produce a part that meets or achieves design specification,
Develops NC Programs to a standard, with minimal excess tool travel,
Reviews updates/recommendations prior to next program use,
Updates and maintains electronic DNC files, programming supplies, tooling information, records, and other functions related to NC programming,
Coordinates with Shop Supervisors, Leadmen, and employees to maintain Shop floor folders and files,
Executes the design & construction of solid models, both on the discrete component level and within an assembly,
Derives 2D process drawings for dissemination to shop floor in support of Manufacturing initiatives,
Develops post-processors for discrete machine tools and evaluates & improves existing post-processors;
Verifies NC program against drawing or other qualified personnel to ensure the program is accurate;
Recommends equipment, tooling, and procedure changes to improve the quality and designs dyes, jigs, and fixtures in both existing technologies and product released technologies, and reduce the production time of parts,
Supports the implementation of productivity improvement initiatives, tools, and processes,
Works with vendors to improve machining processes based on product innovations.
Technical degree in machining, or a technical degree in programming with machining experience,
5 years of experience with NC machining, or 7 years manual machining with programming experience,
Ability to work from blueprints, models, sketches, technical specifications, and oral instructions,
Knowledge of and ability to use a variety of tools and equipment, such as engine and turret lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and assorted hand tools,
Ability to perform own set-ups and work to drawing tolerances,
Ability to periodically lift, in compliance with TDW Safety Regulations,
Ability to work in a team environment with a business orientation,
Ability to program from both off-line software CAM systems (including, but not limited to, SolidWorks and/or SolidCAM) and execute basic hard code programming directly on a CNC machine control.
