Overview

Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, plans and directs the activities of all maintenance personnel.   Assists Maintenance  Supervisor in maintaining maintenance request line database, maintenance software system database and parts pick-up and delivery records.  Maintains building heating and cooling systems.  Will assist and/or perform preventive maintenance and repairs on building, equipment and machinery.

 

Responsibilities

Production equipment and facilities maintenance (70%)

  • Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, plans and directs the activities of all maintenance personnel in performing preventive maintenance and repairs on building, equipment and machinery.
  • Monitors the activities of the shop custodians to ensure the cleanliness of the manufacturing areas of the plant are being maintained in accordance with TDW cleaning procedures and HSE guidelines.   Reports any discrepancies to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Enters into maintenance request line database and maintenance software system database information necessary to generate and close maintenance work orders.  Ensures maintenance work orders for repair of manufacturing equipment contain a detailed description of problem and solution of problem before closing in database.

Continuous improvement (20%)

  • Purchases repair parts and supplies.  Prepares paperwork necessary for pick-up or delivery of small equipment or parts.  Maintains records necessary to support this activity, as well as petty cash purchases.
  • Performs routine repairs and maintenance of heating and cooling systems. Changes filter, oils motor, and adjusts thermostats as necessary to ensure proper operation of the equipment.  Troubleshoots major breakdowns and contacts contractor for service.

Team management (10%)

  • Assists and/or performs preventive maintenance and repairs on building, equipment and machinery

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 to 6 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, performing mechanical and electrical repairs and modifications,
  • Experience in a lean manufacturing and continuous improvement environment, familiar with the use of hoists, cranes, hand and power tools, ability to read blueprints and electrical drawings, working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and machine controls,
  • IT literate,
  • Good organization and communication skills.

Education Requirement

  • Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor,
  • Directly supervises a team of several mechanics and coordinates the work performed by contractors,
  • Works in close collaboration with the Maintenance Supervisor and the HSE Advisor.
  • Answers internal client requests in the respect of the procedures while taking into consideration the urgency,

  • Based on the resources available, informs the internal client of the deadline and follows up.
