Overview

TDW’s Pipeline Integrity Services division makes inline inspection tools that perform a magnetic and mechanical inspection of pipeline integrity. Our software engineering team develops graphical software to visualize this data for our expert analysts and customers. We have a stable long term outlook and we are looking for a computer vision / machine learning expert to join our team in Salt Lake City.

We desire candidates with a scientific or engineering background to help us automate the identification measurement of different types of defects in large data sets collected by our automate inspection tools. This candidate will work with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to understand our tools' signals and robotic functions.  Regular interactions with our data analysts will be required in order to provide them with automated software solutions that will improve the efficacy of their workflow. 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare data using signal processing techniques to enhance signal
  • Use image analysis and computer vision techniques for data analysis
  • Use machine learning tools to automate human processes
  • Combine GUIs with algorithms to enable automated analysis of pipeline data (understanding the intricacies of our pipeline inspection data is part of the initial training)
  • Work with analysts, technicians, scientists and engineers to create innovative industrial production-level software solutions
  • Mentor junior level scientists and engineers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a software development-related field with 5 or more years of experience
  • An advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, or related field with 5 or more years of experience preferred
  • 3 or more years of experience with image and/or signal processing, computer vision, neural networks, logistic regression, statistics, and/or machine learning algorithm development for the detection, classification and measurement of objects of interest
  • Experience with C++, C#, and/or Java
  • Experience with Python, NumPy/SciPy, or other mathematical languages (R/Matlab)
  • Scientific background
  • Excellent communication skills
