Overview

Repairs, modifies, tests, assembles, cleans, paints, and prepares equipment for customer shipment or the warehouse. When required, supervises operation of Tapping and Plugging equipment during service work assignments to assure safe and proper use of equipment and satisfactory completion of job.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs, tests, cleans, and inspects equipment for damage or wear ensuring that worn or damaged parts are repaired or replaced in accordance with established quality control procedures.
  • Works from blueprints to assemble and prepare equipment for shipment ensuring that the equipment is ready when needed. Records maintenance of service center’s hot tapping and plugging equipment.
  • Assists customer in planning and coordinating use of tapping and plugging equipment for safest and most efficient completion of projects; develops and maintains good relations with all customers.
  • Supervises the handling, assembly, operation and disassembly of TDW HT&P equipment during field operations.
  • Records maintenance of service center's hot tapping and plugging equipment. Keeps up-to-date on all equipment maintenance and operational procedures in compliance with established quality assurance procedures to ensure safe, proper maintenance and use of equipment, and satisfactory completion of jobs.
  • Upon completion of each HT&P job, prepares a report detailing equipment performance results and other essential data. Summarizes completed reports, time and job tickets in a timely manner.
  • Arranges personal transportation and housing reservations when functioning as technician. Prepares and submits expense reports in accordance with established procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school education. Has acquired knowledge and skills sufficient to obtain certification required for the Technician, Level I, as stated in the Knowledge/Skill Inventory section of the Technician Training Manual.
  • Ability to maintain small gasoline and diesel engines. Aptitude to learn and understand hydraulic equipment, such as pumps, motors, control valves, etc.
  • Previous experience in a machine shop and ability to read blueprints would be beneficial.
  • Requires some heavy (50-100) pounds) lifting.
  • May be required to carry “beeper” after regular hours, on weekends and holidays.
