Makes routine engineering layouts and makes and/or checks manufacturing drawings and bills of material required to manufacture TDW products.
Works from sketches or verbal instructions to prepare neat, clear, accurate and complete dimensional drawings and layouts, for new products and/or improvements for existing products so that TDW products can be produced according to specifications and ensures that bills of material are structured compatible to the TDW operating system.
Prepares setup drawings showing essential dimensions and part numbers for marketing and field personnel.
Makes changes and/or revisions to existing drawings as requested.
Frequently checks drawings of others, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the drawing, so that TDW products can be produced according to specifications and function as designed.
This includes: A. Checking all dimensions and weights for completeness and accuracy. B. Ensuring the drawings meet the requirements of the TDW drafting manual, current drafting practice standards, and current design standards. C. Ensuring all customer and company specifications are met. D. Ensuring the drawing contains all the necessary procedures required for fabrication, finishing, inspection, testing and any other special requirements. E. Ensuring that bill of material structuring is compatible with the TDW operating system.
Occasionally assists in functional testing of prototypes, both on-site and in the field.
Assists coordinators and/or technicians with special applications and/or field-related problems.
Makes necessary calculations per design standard, codes or project engineers.
Assists other departments with finding and taking out part numbers and/or drawings.
Responsible for selecting proper material for design project and routine orders.
High school diploma plus associates degree in field related to mechanical drafting, design, or engineering, or equivalent experience.
CAD experience or training.
Minimum of five years drafting experience in fields related to mechanical/machine drafting.
Good understanding of materials and manufacturing processes plus a good mechanical and mathematical aptitude.
