Overview

Mission:

 

Champion the process of optimizing the utilization and effectiveness of T.D. Williamson’s machine tool applications to drive continuous improvement in Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.

Responsibilities

Tasks: 

 

  • Supports all new product technology programs as they transition from Development into Production by facilitating the design of manufacturing processes
  • Analyze manufacturing models/drawings of production parts and create a list of tooling and cutting techniques to create a finished part
  • Compile and present professional project documentation. This documentation may include, but not limited to, solid modelling, process sheets, tooling sheets, time studies, cost per part evaluations, and/or tooling quotations
  • Facilitates the training on the operational differences between different types of machine tools and understand cutting tool interaction between machine tools and the workpiece
  • Analyzes processes for improvement in quality, safety, and productivity
  • Works and communicates directly with Production personnel, management, suppliers, and customers
  • Identities and implements efficiency improvement opportunities through DFSS, LEAN, and 6 Sigma (DMAIC) programs
  • Assists in and sometimes leads advance manufacturing initiatives
  • Assists in leading Quality initiatives (API, ISO, and internal QA process definitions)
  • Creates metrics for Mfg./SC
  • Assist VST Manager in developing the annual capital expenditure and expense budget (>$1,000,000) for the machine shop, to ensure that target ROI is achieved

Qualifications

Knowledge, skills & abilities required: 

 

  • BS in Industrial / Mechanical Engineering or Technical Apprenticeship with 10-15 yrs. experience
  • Demonstrated ability for optimizing a machine shop process with the best in class performance
  • Able to conduct cutting tool tests, analyze part finishes and modify cutting conditions to provide optimal cutting solutions
  • Thorough process improvement (e.g., DMAIC, 6 Sigma, Lean, 5S) understanding preferred
  • Ability to work and communicate closely with all levels of an organization
  • Strong analytical skills
